If you find yourself in an impending divorce or other family conflict that cannot be resolved, there are good reasons you should consider mediation. Mediation rests on the premises that each person has legitimate concerns and that the dignity of all should be preserved. Following are some of the other key benefits of mediation.

Cooperation and Understanding
One of the greatest benefits of mediation is that it fosters cooperation and understanding, in contrast to litigation, which tends to create hostility and a lack of understanding. This fundamental difference is a big reason why mediation tends to lead to more favorable outcomes for both parties.

Rapid Settlements
Litigation in the courts is often drawn out, taking a very long time to complete. Often there may be considerable delay to even the first court date. In most cases, mediation offers the opportunity to start and finish the process quickly.

Cost
Mediation is generally much less expensive when compared to litigation, and offers a relatively predictable cost; where litigation costs can vary widley.

More Satisfactory Outcomes
Parties who negotiate their own settlements have more control over the outcome and are generally more satisfied with the outcome than they are when a dispute is settled by arbitration or adjudication by a third party decision-maker. Mediation allows parties to attend to a greater level of detail, including concerns that may not be addressed by a court.

Not Just Compromises
Meditation offers the possibility for more win/win outcomes, not just compromise or win/lose outcomes.

Privacy
Mediation is private and confidential, allowing parties to avoid public disclosure of personal information in the courts.
